In 2004 I added a handicapped room for my spouse. Is it tax deductible?

I converted a garage space to be a room used by my husband so we would not use the stairs and had a handicapped bathroom and lift chair. He passed away in 2005 and I never looked into deducting the cost of this room. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.
